Walter Jones II Obituary

Walter Edward Jones II, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on December 22, 2024, at his home in North Carolina, surrounded by his loving daughter, Kenyatta Jones Campbell. Born on September 22, 1940, in Talbot County, Maryland, Walter was the second son of Walter Edward Jones Sr. and Virginia Mae Jones.

Walter's journey through life was marked by resilience and dedication. He grew up in Cardova, Maryland, and attended Wilmington Public Schools. In the 8th grade, he dropped out to support his mother and siblings, showcasing his strong sense of family responsibility from an early age.

Walter was a talented professional bass player who played backup for renowned musicians, including the legendary Otis Redding. His musical passion was only one facet of his diverse skill set; he excelled in various trades, including welding. For a time, he worked with the Bell Telephone Company in Boston, Massachusetts, where his daughter was born, bringing joy and pride to his life.

Known for his impeccable style, Walter dressed to impress. He had a penchant for fine hats, coats, and shoes that always required the care of a dry cleaner. His affinity for elephants was evident, as he adorned his home with numerous elephant figurines, reflecting his unique personality and interests.

Walter was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Reba Jones, and his son Walter III, his five siblings: Charles, Thelma, Betty, Doris, and George (affectionately known as Toby). He is survived by his son, Anthony Jones, and his daughter, Kenyatta Campbell, and a loving family that includes seven grandchildren: Anthony II (TeeDee), Brandon, Bria, Marquez, Brandi, Jada, and Alvin II (AJ), along with nine great-grandchildren, Rashaad, Amari, Anthony, Aiden, Alanna, Amarah, Thomas III, Bailey, and Indira. He cherished his many nieces and nephews, whom he loved as his own.

In his final years Walter found peace and happiness living with his daughter and her family in North Carolina. Before his passing, he accepted Christ as his personal savior, comforting those who loved him.

Walter Edward Jones II will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, unwavering love for his family, and the indelible mark he left on all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his loved ones, and he will be deeply missed.
