Shirleen Faye Perry

Shirleen Faye Perry is a beloved woman of faith and a devoted singer of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Born on August 28, 1955, in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, Shirleen was the cherished daughter of the late Wade and Isabell Hargrove. She entered eternal rest on January 11, 2025, at the Oxford Health and Rehabilitation Center in Granville County, North Carolina.

Shirleen was raised in Vance County, North Carolina, where she attended the Vance County Public School System. From a young age, she was a dedicated member of the Antioch United Church of Christ, where her love for music flourished. Throughout her life, Shirleen carried her passion for singing the Gospel, sharing her faith through her melodic voice.

In pursuit of new opportunities, Shirleen moved to New Jersey, where she worked at the Essex County Jail in Newark. She was an active Order of Eastern Star member known for her beautiful performances with the gospel group The Singing Sisters of Oxford, NC. Shirleen's contributions to the choir at Antioch United Church of Christ were a testament to her unwavering faith and love for worship.

Shirleen was preceded in death by her beloved son, Tywan Hargrove; her father, Wade Hargrove; her mother, Isabell Hargrove; and her sister, Martha Anne Hanks. She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory and the legacy of love she created. She is survived by her devoted husband, Clem Perry; two daughters, Tamika Hargrove, and Tonya Dortch; two brothers, Wade Hargrove Jr. and Jerry Hargrove; two sisters, Yvonne Hanks and Sarah Elam, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were touched by her kindness and spirit.

Shirleen Faye Perry's life was a beautiful testament to the power of faith, love, and music. She will be deeply missed but live on in the hearts of those she inspired and loved. May she rest in peace.
