Shala Yvonne Lee Harris-Evans

Shala Yvonne Lee Harris Evans, beloved daughter of Eugene Brown and Evon Harris-Hunt, was born on June 26, 1973, in Morristown, New Jersey. She peacefully returned to her heavenly home on February 15, 2025, at Maria Parham Health in Henderson, North Carolina, surrounded by love.

Raised in Morristown, Shala attended the local school system, where she graduated high school and discovered her passion for caregiving. While in school, she became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), a testament to her compassionate nature and dedication to helping others. Shala began her career at Morristown Memorial Hospital, touching countless lives with her unwavering kindness and commitment.

Shala moved to North Carolina to further her skills, where she continued her work as a CNA at a nursing facility in Durham. She furthered her education at Granville Community College, earning her CNA 2 certification. Shala’s journey in healthcare was not just a profession but a calling she embraced wholeheartedly.

In North Carolina, Shala met the love of her life, Edward Augustus Evans Jr. Their connection blossomed into a deep and loving partnership, culminating in their marriage on October 29, 2022. Edward describes Shala as a loving and caring partner, a devoted mother, and a woman with a heart of gold. She had a remarkable ability to love everyone she encountered, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Shala’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She found a spiritual home at Mount Zion Christian Church, where she cherished her connection to the community and the Lord under the guidance of Pastor Mark Hargrove.

Shala is survived by her loving husband, Edward, and their children, who were the center of her universe. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched with her warmth and generosity.

In celebrating Shala’s life, we remember a woman who gave more than she received, whose love knew no bounds, and whose spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew her.
