It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Edward Mitchell, a beloved husband, father, brother, friend, and community member, who passed away on July 11, 2025, to be with his Heavenly Father. Robert was born on December 17, 1983, to Edward Nathaniel Mitchell and Naomi Terry Mitchell. He found his peace and tranquility amongst the waters God created, a place where his joyful spirit and love for life shone brightest.
Robert was a man full of life, whose cheerful spirit and generous heart touched everyone he met. He loved his family fiercely and was known for never meeting a stranger; his warmth and kindness extended to everyone. A proud and dedicated business owner, Robert's entrepreneurial spirit and friendly demeanor made him a well-loved figure in his community.
Robert attended Vance County Public Schools. As a child, he was a member of Big Ruin Creek Baptist Church, where he sang in the youth choir and served on the Usher Board. He enjoyed spending time with his family on the lake, fishing, camping, and making memories on his boat. The lake was his happy place, a sanctuary where he found happiness and peace.
Robert's greatest joy came from his family. He was a devoted husband to Lashonda Tashea Mitchell and a loving father to his children: Alaisha Zunea Mitchell, Robert Edward Mitchell Jr., Robert Elijah Mitchell, Isaiah Kaden Mitchell, Aiden Zy'mir Mitchell, Aleeyah Mary-Ann Mitchell, and Logan Alexander Mitchell. He cherished every moment spent with them, instilling in them love, faith, and strength.
He leaves behind his siblings: Edna Michelle Foster (Robert), Tyrone Nathaniel Terry (Kim), Theresa Louise Terry, Leslie Mitchell, Edgar Mitchell, and Marie Thomas (Daryl), along with 13 nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and loved ones whose lives he touched deeply.
Robert's legacy is one of love, protection, and joy. He will be missed beyond words but forever remembered for his vibrant spirit, his unwavering devotion to his family, and his love for life.
Rest peacefully, Robert. Your journey here is complete, but your love and spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those you loved and cherished.
"To live in hearts, we leave behind is not to die."
