Phillip Bryant Hargrove was born on January 24, 1977, in Vance County to the late Willie Gene Hargrove and Elsie Royster Hargrove. He entered eternal rest on Saturday, May 3, 2025, leaving a legacy of love, resilience, and joy.
Phillip was a devoted son who loved his mother deeply, cherishing her guidance and warmth. While he held his family close to his heart, Phillip also discovered happiness within himself, embracing life’s simple pleasures and finding joy in everyday moments. His infectious smile and positive spirit touched everyone he met.
Phillip attended Granville County Schools, North Vance, and ultimately received his GED from Vance-Granville Community College. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, writing, playing baseball, and watching the NFL and NBA. These activities brought him genuine happiness and allowed him to express his vibrant personality.
Phillip is survived by his sister, Patrice Gray (Melvin) of Henderson, NC, and brother, Prentice Hargrove (Kimberly) of Roxboro, NC. He leaves behind four aunts: Carolyn Walker, Gloria Smith (Joe) of Oxford, NC, Connie Smith of Richmond, VA, Patricia Wilkins of Middleburg, NC; two uncles: Gerald Royster of Durham, NC, and Curtis Royster (Barbara) of Oxford, NC; along with one great aunt, Dorothy Harris of Rockaway, NJ. He is also survived by three nieces, five nephews, one great-nephew, one great-niece, a special cousin, Barnette Green, and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends whom he touched with his kindness.
Phillip was preceded in death by his father, Willie Gene Hargrove; his sister, Pamela Jean Hargrove; and his brother, Stacey Pettaway.
Phillip’s life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and finding happiness within. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his joyful spirit and the love he shared with his family and friends.
