Laura Esther Bullock, affectionately known as Puddin, was born on January 29, 1957, in Vance County, North Carolina, to the late Bobbie and Ruth Valentine Bullock. On Saturday, September 9, 2023, Laura peacefully passed away at her home in Henderson, North Carolina.
Laura received her education in Vance County and pursued a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant after obtaining her certification. She worked diligently as an Inspector for Premier Quilters in Oxford, NC before returning to the field of nursing, where she devoted 36 years of her life. Her commitment to caring for others led her to retire from Brantwood Nursing Home when her health began to decline.
Outside of her professional life, Puddin enjoyed spending quality time with her cherished family and friends. She found joy in playing Bingo and attending Gospel Concerts alongside her beloved sisters. She was an integral part of A&M Production, where she worked in the kitchen, making her contributions felt by all. Puddin's zest for life and warm spirit will be deeply missed by many.
Laura was preceded in death by her son, Johnathan Eugene Bullock, her grandparents, Charlie and Maggie Williams, two aunts, Willie Mae Floyd and Thelma Rose Williams, one brother, Wilbert Henry Miles, and her adopted mother, Arcelia Person Miles. She leaves behind a legacy of precious memories cherished by those who loved her dearly.
Surviving Laura are her daughter, Crystal Nicole Bullock, and her six adoring grandchildren, Trevon Murphy, Bre’Ayonna Johnson, Branya Johnson, Sabreea Roberson, Kahli Thorton, and StaShaud Clark. She also leaves behind four great-grandchildren, A’Aliya Murphy, Armani Murphy, Nina Mitchell Wilson, and A’Zaria Roberson. Laura is survived by her three sisters, Arnita Miles, Sandra Bullock, and Ernestine Miles Holden, as well as five brothers, Allen Williams, Danny Kings, Pastor John Miles & First Lady Angela Miles, Sidney Mayo, and Robert Miles of Washington, D.C.
Additionally, Laura's goddaughter since birth, Chanequa Kelly, held a special place in her heart, and she was also blessed with the love of her special cousin, Georgia Williams; two aunts Beatrice Henderson (Sammy) and Louvenia Williams, were a source of support and love in her life. Laura was grateful for the care she received from her devoted caretaker, Lynnette Powell, whom she loved as a daughter. She held a special bond with her niece, Tekia Thomas, and cherished the friendship of Dant’e Champion and Deborah Murphy, who were longtime companions.
Laura also leaves behind a large extended family of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives, as well as numerous friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Laura Esther Bullock, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, touched the lives of many with her generosity, laughter, and love. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were blessed to have known her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
