Larry Jerome Evans

Larry Jerome Evans was born on September 17, 1953, in Henderson, North Carolina, to Edward Evans Sr. and the late Mary Uvell Evans. He departed this life on July 13, 2022, in New Jersey.

Shortly after that they moved to Elizabeth, NJ where he attended the Elizabeth Public School System and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School.  Larry also played on the High School Baseball Team for four years.  Larry continued his education at Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina, majoring in Business Administration. He was employed with Merit Electric Company as an Accountant and C & S Pathmark Industry in Rahway, NJ.  After working for many years, he joined the US Armed Forces where he was stationed overseas in Germany for two years. 

In 2009, Larry turned his mind, body, and soul over to Our Lord and Savior.  He joined the Christian Church and was baptized in the Holy Spirit.  Larry loved God and looked forwarded to attending Church.  Every day, Larry awakened in peace with a positive attitude. 

Larry was handsome, well dressed, and a very hard worker.  He excelled in whatever he put his hands to do.  He loved playing Bingo and going to Atlantic City, NJ.  He walked around with a deck of cards in his pocket and was always ready to play the card games 500 and 21.

He was preceded in death by his loving mother Mary Uvell Evans, brother Rex Allen Evans and companion JoAnn Salagi.

Larry leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a loving family that includes his father, Edward Evans Sr, his daughter Tameika Williams, 2 brothers Edward Evans Jr (Harriet) and Donald Evans, 1 sister Pamela Dashiell and 2 grandchildren Maurice Wright and Ava Orr. He also leaves behind a dear friend Pamela Pullen, several aunts, cousins, and a host of friends who played a very important role in his life.

A viewing will be held at Alight & Feggins & Feggins Friendly Home of Memorials Mourning Center on Friday July 22, 2022 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM. Funeral services will be held for Jerome Larry Evans on July 23, 2022, at 11:00AM at Morning Star United Holy Church located at 4381 Satterwhite Point Road Henderson, NC 27537.
