Keisha Rainey Obituary

Keisha Devon Russell Rainey, daughter of the late Joseph Jessie Russell and Mary Debnam Russell, was born on December 27, 1970, in Brooklyn, New York. She peacefully departed this life on August 1, 2025, at Duke University Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering generosity.

From her earliest days in Brooklyn, Keisha was a bright, vibrant spirit—always giving, always loving. She later made Henderson, North Carolina, her home, where her heart truly blossomed. A proud graduate of Vance County Public School Systems, she grew up attending Welcome Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where her faith and love for Jesus were the foundation of her life.

Keisha was a natural giver—her heart knew no bounds. As a skilled chef and dedicated Home Health Aide, she poured her love into caring for others. She founded Angels of Mercy, a nonprofit organization committed to feeding the community and lifting spirits. Her purpose was rooted in serving people, and she did so with an open heart and a genuine smile.

Her love was fierce and unwavering. She shared 27 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Jermaine Rainey, a partnership built on mutual respect, love, and devotion. Together, they shared a bond that inspired those around them.

Keisha's greatest joy came from her family. Through her union with Gregory Crudup, she welcomed her cherished daughter, Latronia Crudup, whose happiness and success she fiercely celebrated. Keisha's love for her daughter was unconditional and fierce—her biggest cheerleader and confidante until her last breath.

Her two granddaughters, Heaven Russell and Savanna Yancy, were her heart—her "everything." She adored them, spoiled them with love, and took pride in being their "Granny." Their laughter and smiles brought her endless joy.

Keisha's warm spirit extended to everyone she encountered. She loved talking on the phone with her dear cousin Baytoosie, sharing laughs with her aunt-in-law Lean, and cherished moments with her best friend and niece, Fanchon Russell Reid. Her signature greeting, "Hey Buddy!" was a simple phrase that conveyed her big heart and her welcoming nature.

Keisha Devon Russell Rainey was a woman who loved everyone fiercely, gave selflessly, and touched lives in ways words cannot fully express. Her legacy of love, kindness, and community will forever remain in the hearts of all she touched.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband Jermaine Rainey, her daughter Latronia Crudup, her granddaughters Heaven Russell and Savanna Yancy, her beloved family, friends, and her community of angels she touched along the way.

A celebration of her life and her beautiful spirit will be held in her honor. May her soul rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave to the world.
