Hermon Smith, son of John Irvin Smith and Katie Belle Kearney Smith, was born on July 15, 1955, in Franklin County, North Carolina. He was called home to his eternal father on December 11, 2024, at Maria Parham Health in Henderson, North Carolina.
Hermon was raised in Vance County, where he attended the local school systems. He dedicated much of his life to hard work as a groundskeeper at JP Taylor Tobacco Warehouse and later at John Umstead Hospital.
A man of deep faith, Hermon attended numerous churches throughout his life, fostering connections within his community. He cherished spending time with family and friends, with a special bond with his beloved niece, Natalie Wright, affectionately known as “Fruity.”
Hermon was passionate about games and enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, and checkers, often sharing laughter and joy during these moments. He also loved visiting casinos, where he found excitement and entertainment.
Hermon leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
