Edna Mann Obituary

Edna Marie Mann, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and devoted servant of God, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, at Duke University Hospital, surrounded by love. Born on August 7, 1958, in Warrenton, North Carolina, Edna was the cherished daughter of John Henry Alexander and Annie Lou Terry Alexander. Her life was a testament to faith, family, and the joy of nurturing children.

Growing up in a loving household, Edna attended the Vance County public school system, where she flourished academically and socially, graduating with pride. From a young age, she was a devoted member of Jesus House of Prayer, now known as United Prayer of Faith, where her spiritual journey began. Her faith in God was a guiding light throughout her life, providing strength and comfort to her and those around her.

After graduating from high school, Edna began her professional journey at J. P. Taylor and later found fulfillment working for Royal Home Fashion. On April 10, 1993, she married James Mann, the love of her life, whom she met at Southern Quilters. Their union was a beautiful testament to love and companionship, filled with laughter and shared dreams.

Edna's greatest joy came from her family. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Kenyana Warren, and her heart overflowed with love for her grandchildren, Brianna Teasley and Jennifer Goolsby. They were the sunrises and sunsets of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them, nurturing their spirits and celebrating their milestones.

Her unwavering faith led her to join Rock of Prayer and Deliverance Holiness Church, where she became an active member under the leadership of Apostal Rosa Perry. Edna served with grace and dedication as the former President of the Usher Board, a member of the Motherboard, and the Pastor's Aid, and she also contributed her beautiful voice to the choir. She was a woman of service, always ready to lend a helping hand and touch the lives of those around her.

Edna's legacy is one of love, faith, and unwavering commitment to family and community. She will be deeply missed by her husband, James; her daughter, Kenyana; her grandchildren, Brianna and Jennifer; her siblings; and countless friends and church members whose lives she touched with her kindness and generosity.

Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Annie Lou Alexander; her loving sister, Shirley Terry; her maternal and paternal grandparents; and three brothers-in-law. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, James Mann, of the home; her daughter, Kenyana Warren; two granddaughters, Brianna Teasley (Dvontae) and Jennifer Goolsby; her sisters, Apostle Rosa Perry and Mary Bullock; her brothers, Robert Thomas (Mable) and Bernard Alexander (Rosa), all of Henderson, NC; two aunts, Johnell Terry and Blanche Terry (Junious); and three loving great-grandchildren who were her heart in human form: Aniyah, Prince, and Maijor. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends, including many godchildren, with three special ones, Jocelyn Benson, Thomas Harris Jr., and Tatiauna Green, as well as two special cousins who were like daughters, Diane Alston and Yolanda Kearney.

As we bid farewell to Edna Marie Mann, we hold close to the memories of her radiant spirit and the love she shared so freely. She has returned to her heavenly home, where she will continue to watch over her family, forever a guiding light in their lives.
