Charles Brown Obituary

Charles Henry Brown, beloved son, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully departed on February 2, 2025, at Bon Secours Saint Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, VA. He was born on December 18, 1957, in Vance County to George Lee Bullock and Mattie Bell Brown.

Charles grew up in Vance County, attending the local public schools. His formative years were marked by a strong sense of community and a deep commitment to family values. He was a dedicated member of Mitchell Baptist Church in Louisburg, North Carolina, where he built lasting friendships and nurtured his faith.

As an adult, Charles became a skilled mason, laying the foundation for numerous projects that would stand the test of time. His work included significant contributions to Duke, Children’s Hospital, Southern Vance High School, and Rex Hospital. For 23 years, he proudly worked for Johnson’s Concrete, where his craftsmanship and dedication were evident in every project he undertook.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Charles had a passion for fishing and a remarkable talent for fixing and creating. A trustworthy handyman, there was virtually nothing he couldn’t repair or assemble. His yard was a testament to his hard work and attention to detail, reflecting his pride in his home and community.

Most importantly, Charles was a pillar for his family and a mentor to many. He dedicated himself to ensuring his loved ones had everything they needed, often going above and beyond to provide support and guidance. He was a father figure to numerous individuals, instilling in them the values of hard work, integrity, and kindness.

Charles cherished his role as a grandfather, finding immense joy in his grandchildren. His love for them was boundless, and he took great pride in being an active and influential presence in their lives. He was always ready with a listening ear, wise advice, or a helping hand.

Charles Henry Brown leaves a legacy of love, strength, and compassion. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to be touched by his spirit.
