William "Billy" Gene Ford was born on August 11, 1934, in Marion County, Marion South Carolina to the late William and Burtha Ford. He departed this life on September 1, 2023, at Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson, NC.
Billy served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1958. He then attended college in Sarasota, Florida where he gained knowledge in the Arts. He had a God given talent for art and wanted to refine his craft. After college, Billy worked for several newspapers in Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina designing cartoons and graphics for the Editorial Pages. He also attended many festivals where he would display his artwork.
Billy was the owner and operator of Billy's Signs for many years, He could be seen on the parking lot of Roses of the Norlina Road where he created some of the most beautiful license plates and signs.
Billy was a quiet mild-mannered man that had the most giving and loving heart. His continued work with the Crime Stoppers and the Vance County Arts Council showed his devoted love for others.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his wife of many years Doris Suggs Ford.
He leaves to cherish his memories his adopted daughter, Chrystal Iwanski and adopted granddaughter Isabelle Iwanski of the home, a cousin who was like a brother, Jimmy Ford of Marion, SC and a host of other relatives and friends.
