Anthony Royster, Sr. Obituary

Anthony James Royster Sr.: A Man of God and a Friend to All

Anthony James Royster Sr., born on April 12, 1977, in Baltimore, MD, peacefully departed this life on May 27, 2026, in Oxford, NC. A devoted son, brother, father, and friend, he lived a life of faith, warmth, and steadfast love. He was preceded in death by his beloved father, James Alfred Barnett; his mother, Donna Marie Royster; and his late grandmother, Hattie Royster. He leaves behind a legacy shaped by prayer, service, and an unwavering commitment to family.

A Gentle Heart, A Strong Spirit

Growing up in the Granville Street community of Oxford, NC, Anthony's faith guided him from his earliest days at Greater Joy, where he learned the value of love, kindness, and generosity. He attended Baltimore City Public School, and though life led him along the path of self-employment, his work always carried a spirit of integrity and care for others. His hobbies—watching football, cherishing time with family, and enjoying meals out—reflected a man who found joy in the simple, meaningful moments shared with those he loved.

Family First, Always

Anthony's devotion to family was the cornerstone of his life. He was a loving father to his children—Anthony James Royster Jr., Anthony Jamaltae Cooper, Gabriel Thomas Royster, Zakeyyia Costella Royster, Janeika Shadia Speed, and Jeanazia Yolande Narcisse—whose lives were enriched by his guidance, prayers, and encouragement. He celebrated the happiness of his grandchildren—Cameron Speed, Anthony Royster III, Que'Mari Royster, Chance Brown, Xylen Cooper, Aziya Royster, Yauni Royster, Madison Johnson, Paislee Smith, Summer Elam, and Ja'Nylah Edwards—and found purpose in shaping their futures with love and wisdom.

Extending a Circle of Love

Survived by a wide circle of siblings—Clarence Lewis, Jerry Long, Kimberly Fenner, Juanita Barnett, Latasha Lewis, Pamela Lewis, Hattie Royster, Talisha Wilson, Nicole Long, Timeca Long, Shalonda Royster, Kenyetta Trotman, and Quakita Trotman—and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends, Anthony's life touched many. His belief in the power of fellowship and community offered comfort and strength to all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the countless hearts he inspired.

A Life Remembered in Faith and Love

Reflecting on Anthony's journey, it's clear that his faith, family, and friends have left a radiant, enduring legacy. He faced life with courage, patience, and a loving heart that welcomed all who sought his counsel and warmth. Though he is no longer with us, the lessons he imparted—to love deeply, to serve generously, and to cherish every moment with those you hold dear—will continue to guide us. May his soul rest in the peace of God, and may we carry forward his memory with the same grace and love that defined his life.
