With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Alvin Dennis Bing, a beloved son, brother, friend, and dedicated carpenter, who peacefully departed this life on April 29, 2025, at Maria Parham Health. Born on March 24, 1956, in Vance County, Alvin was the son of Jacob Jr. and Beatrice Sutton Bing.
Growing up in Vance County, Alvin attended the local public school system and dedicated his life to serving his community through hard work and craftsmanship. Known affectionately as "Iron Man," Alvin was renowned for his unwavering work ethic, willingness to lend a helping hand, and passion for carpentry. His skills and integrity made him a trusted figure in the neighborhood—everyone knew they could count on Alvin when something needed fixing or building.
Alvin was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Walter L. Bing, and sister, Barbara J. Stamper. He leaves a legacy of love and dedication to his family and friends. He is survived by his sisters, Patricia Alston of Henderson, North Carolina, and Phillis Washington of Washington, D.C.; his brother-in-law, Erwin Stamper of Montclair, NJ; and two special nephews, Larry Bing and Jerald Bing of Washington, D.C. Alvin also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who cherished him dearly—most notably his dear friend, Lakecia Dunston of Henderson, North Carolina and also his best friend who was like a brother Otis.
Alvin's work ethic, kindness, and generosity will be fondly remembered by everyone who knew him. His hard work and community service legacy will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
Rest in peace, Alvin. Your legacy of strength and kindness will never be forgotten.
