It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Akori Stephon Kendre Jones, affectionately known as PK, who left us too soon. Born and raised in High Point, NC, Akori moved to Oxford shortly before entering middle school. He attended JF Webb High School for three years and later graduated from Granville Central High School in 2022.
Akori was a dedicated worker, having held positions at Wendy’s, Bojangles, Hibbett Sports, Walmart, and most recently, Food Lion Distribution. His commitment to finding a fulfilling career was driven by his desire to make his beloved mother proud.
In his spare time, Akori found joy in playing video games, particularly on his PlayStation, and had a passion for animals, cherishing his dog Dino and a family of groundhogs he lovingly adopted. He was also an avid horse rider and practiced Taekwondo and Karate. At the age of 16, he discovered a hidden talent for music writing, recording several tracks under the name PK Trippin, with dreams of one day owning his own studio.
Akori was known for his quiet humility, unique style, bright smile, and captivating eyes. He loved his family deeply, including his parents, Andre Jones and Keneasha Thornton, his sister Aubrey Jones, and adopted sister Shalita Jones. He shared a special bond with his beloved partner, Diamond Turner, and his favorite uncle, James Lamont Thornton.
Akori’s presence on this earth will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. His kindness, willingness to help others, and warm spirit will leave a lasting legacy. As we remember Akori, let us celebrate the joy he brought to our lives and honor his memory by cherishing those we hold dear.
Rest in peace, Akori. Your light will continue to shine in our hearts.
